What’s the name of your business?

Feed Digital

How long have you been running your business?

I've been running this business for 2.5 years

What’s your favourite thing about what you do/your business?

Helping small businesses grow by developing strategies and campaigns that grow with them. It's the best feeling when we bring a business who has no digital footprint to life, crafting a product/brand that makes an impact on it's customer base, regardless of how big or small. There's no better feeling that knowing we had a hand in making that happen.

When business has been tough who have you relied on the most?

Friends in the industry, family and mentors. Each has provided me a different angle to help me make the decisions I needed to. They have given me perspective, offered support or simply been an ear to listen.

What’s your advice for doing business in recession?

My advice is to assess their offering and determine how it's placed in the market. A recession doesn't mean customers will stop buying products or services but, customers will alter what they purchase or think differently about the need for such things. A business should understand what need their product/service fulfils and if it's appropriate to market that angle, do so. The 'how to market' that offering comes later, in which there are many free or low cost ways businesses can get in front of their audience - whether it be posting organically on their social media channels, working on their SEO, social media or Google ads. It's important to speak with one voice, across multiple channels.

What’s the #1 thing you do to ensure your wellbeing as a business owner?

I make sure I have a team behind me that I can lean on for support and advice - whether that be advice from my accountant about whether I can afford to take on another staff member or from my partner to ensure I'm maintaining a work life balance. Owning your own business can be demanding, I make it a priority to understand what situations put me under stress and I work to ensure those times are few and far between.
