5 minutes with Mandy Richards, founder of Global Sisters

How long have you been running your business?

I started working on GS in 2012 and have had a paid team since the start of 2016

What’s your favourite thing about what you do/your business?

It creates hope where there was none as well as a practical pathway to a better future

When business has been tough who have you relied on the most?

Members of our Leadership Team particularly our COO Heather who has developed GS with me

What’s your advice for doing business in recession?

Look for where the new opportunities are – people still always spend money but just might shift or focus their spend.

What’s the #1 thing you do to ensure your wellbeing as a business owner?

I’m useless at this – I’ve been studying for a Masters in Human Rights Law for the last 4 years which I started when my little boy was 3. Growing a startup charity, being mum with a partner away a lot and studying meant something had to give – which has been exercise & socialising. Looking forward to fixing this situation soon!! I love the outdoors and I used  to be superfit once upon a time. I love facials and massages too but they don’t happen very often! I have managed to keep up adventures with my family and have had some awesome Mummy & Max ones since Max turned 5 which are my soul food as well as hanging out with our rescue malamute Bubbles.

What's your favourite social media channel?

I love the new Global Sisters #BackHerBrilliance campaign! My only real social channel I post on is @BubblesTheMalamute – theres some fun posts of her opera singing to the world
