5 minutes with Grace Brennan, founder of #BuyFromTheBush

How long have you been running your business?

8 months

What’s your favourite thing about what you do/your business?

Helping to connect the city and the bush. Introducing city consumers to beautiful bush businesses and enabling small business owners in the bush to realise their full potential.

When business has been tough who have you relied on the most?

My husband. He is a farmer and a great business man. He tends to strike a great balance between relying on gut instinct and science. Farmers are natural problem solvers and innovators and they are used to working in unpredictable, challenging conditions. I find his ability to keep a cool head in times of crisis incredibly inspiring. His insights often inform my decision-making.

What’s your advice for doing business in recession?

Think about your unique value proposition. Find ways to communicate that in engaging ways to your customer so they are clear on how your product/service meet their needs. Allow your customer to connect with your story.

What’s the #1 thing you do to ensure your wellbeing as a business owner?

As the mother of a newborn... I’ll get back to you on that when I’ve had some sleep!
